ನೆನ್ನೆಯ ದಿನ ಏಕಾದಶಿಯ ತಿಥಿ, ತಾರೀಖು ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 26, 2022. ಆದರೆ ನಾವು (ಮಾಧ್ವರು-ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪಂಗಡ) ಮಾಮೂಲಿ ದಿನಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಅನ್ನ, ಹುಳಿ, ಸಾರು ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಫಲಾಹಾರ ಕೂಡ ಮಾಡಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ.
ಇಂದು ದ್ವಾದಶಿ ತಿಥಿ, ತಾರೀಖು ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 27, 2022. ಆದರೆ ನಮಗೆ ದಿನ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಉಪವಾಸ.
ಇನ್ನು ನಾಳೆ ತ್ರಯೋದಶಿ ತಿಥಿ!, ತಾರೀಖು ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 28, 2022. ನಾಳೆ ಮುಂಜಾನೆಯ ನಸುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ದ್ವಾದಶಿಯ ತರಹದ ಊಟ!!!
ಹೇಗಿದೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ?
Suppose one person from Bangalore is travelling on the night of 26th April 2022 to Raichur, then 26th April 2022 as well as 27th April 2022 will be Ekadashi day. 😊😃😏
ಹೀಗೂ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ..
ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿನ ಆಚಾರ ವಿಚಾರಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಹಿನ್ನಲೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿರುವುದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ. ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಈ ಆಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಮಠದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನವನ್ನೇ ಅವಲಂಬಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಭಯ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮುಂತಾದುವುಗಳಿಂದ ಆಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾಲನೆ ಮಾಡಿಸುವಂತಹುದು ಈ ಮಠಗಳ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ. ಇದು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಸರಿಯೇ. ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣತ್ವದ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯತೆಯೇ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಆದರೂ ಮಾಧ್ವರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಪಂಗಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ವ್ಯತಿರಿಕ್ತ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ, ವಿವಿಧ ಕಟ್ಟುಬದ್ಧತೆ ಏಕೋ ಸರಿಯಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಬದಲಿಸುವ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಇನ್ನೂ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿಲ್ಲ, ಕಾರಣ ಮಠಗಳಿನ್ನೂ ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಸೂಚಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. ೧೪, ೧೫ , ೧೬, ೧೭, ೧೮ ನೆಯ ಶತಮಾನದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೂ ಇಂದಿನದಕ್ಕೂ ಇರುವ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೇ ಯಾವ ಮಠಾಧೀಶರು ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಇನ್ನು ಏಕಾದಶಿಯ ವಿಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧ ಮಠಾಧೀಶರ ಭಿನ್ನಾಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿಯಾದರೂ ಬಂದೇ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಏಕಾದಶಿಯೂ ಸಹ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಹಿನ್ನಲೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದು ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಆಚಾರವಂತರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರದ ವಿಚಾರವಿರಬಹುದು. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಬ್ಯಾಕ್ಟೀರಿಯಾಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಲು ಈ ಏಕಾದಶಿಯ ಮಹತ್ವ ಅಷ್ಟೇ.
ಪಂಚಾಂಗ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಈ ಏಕಾದಶಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನ, ಸಂಶಯ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಕುಲಪುರೋಹಿತರ ಅಥವಾ ಮಠಾಧೀಶರ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟನೆಗೆ ಕಾಯುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಏಕಾದಶಿಯು ಪ್ರತಿ ೧೫ ದಿನಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಂದಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ೧೫ ದಿನಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಾವು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅತಿ ಸುಲಭದ ಉಪಾಯ ಭಾನುವಾರದ ದಿನ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು. ಮರೆಯಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ಕ್ಯಾಲೆಂಡರ್ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವೇಕೆ 15 ದಿನಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ಇರುವ ಶನಿವಾರದಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಊಟ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಫಲಾಹಾರ ಮಾಡಿ, ಭಾನುವಾರ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೋಮವಾರದಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಫಲಾಹಾರ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು?
ಯಾವ ಮಠದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಯುವ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ನೆನಪಿಡಲು ಬಲು ಸುಲಭ. ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ..... ಮತ್ತೇ.. ಭಾನುವಾರ ಬರುವ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರೀ ನೀರು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳಿಸಬಹುದು.😊😃😏

ಸೂಚನೆ ps: Understand Brahmin Custom Concept-IMPORTANT
Usual custom of an orthodox family in Brahmin community IRRESPECTIVE of sub-sects is that
- On all days only one meal, i.e, LUNCH in the afternoon needs to be taken. and on Ekadashi days nothing, not even water is consumed. Kattar orthodox men follow this.
- For those families who cannot do this as stated in Point.1 above, everyday LUNCH in the afternoon + light refreshment (remember, specified items only) is consumed in the evening/night. These families will fast on all Ekadashi days. Some may drink water. Moderate orthodox people follow this.
- The Ultra moderate orthodox families (mostly youngsters/employees) take breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. (or early lunch, evening light refreshment and dinner). Under the above usual practice as stated here in Point.3, the pontiffs advise these Ultra Moderates to skip breakfast/light refreshments and Dinner at least on Dashami and Dwadashi days by having only Lunch and specified tiffin in the evening/night. And a MUST fast on Ekadashi day. Due to health problems nowadays it is accepted to have light refreshments on Ekadashi days too.
- Some brahmins don't see Panchanga and just eat vegetarian on all days as per their convenience due to difficulties faced by them according to them.
- I respect the first three categories. I also respect the fourth category of brahmin as long as the brahmins believe and follow minimum brahminism in their day-to-day life.

Uttaradi Math - Desha bedha Ekadashi – variance in dates across places
Next Ekadashi (Vaishaka Bahula Ekadashi, Shobana nama samvatsara) has what is called desha bedha. Based on where you live, Ekadashi would be either on 15th May 2023 or on 16th May.
The attached file has details called out by state in India and places inside the states and says if Ekadashi acharane should be on 15th or 16th. The document is so available at https://bit.ly/UMDocs. Please spot your place in the file and know the Ekadashi date this time. If you are living in and around Chennai, please take a closer look at the table. Also note that where Ekadashi is on 15th there is Hari Vasara till 52 minutes after Sun rise on 17th May and Rama naivedya and parane will be after that.
